How You Might Be Paid
There are various ways that sites offer as payment methods, here are some of them:
-
Paypal
-
Cheque
-
BACS
-
Gift Voucher
-
Gifts
-
Money Bookers
Paypal
This is one of the most commonly available forms of payment, it’s very easy to set up and to use, and you can either transfer the money from there into a bank account, or you can use it directly to shop online at many stores.
If you’d like to set up a paypal account you can do so here.
Cheque
A nice simple method of payment, do make sure that if you set it so a site pays you by cheque they have your name and address details down correctly otherwise you might find yourself unable to pay your cheque into your bank account.
BACS
A method that’s becoming more popular where the site arranges to transfer the money direct from their bank account to yours. You need to provide them with some simple information such as your bank account number and name and the sort code for the bank where the account is held, but don’t worry, you don’t have to provide them with any passwords or anything, so all they can do is pay money in, they can’t take it out.
Gift Vouchers
Some sites offer gift vouchers of various sorts as a payment option. There are two types of gift voucher, electronic vouchers for use on websites like Amazon, or HMV Online, and paper vouchers & gift cards which are for use in physical shops. Electronic gift vouchers are usually e-mailed to you, and then you can apply them to your account with that online store, and paper vouchers and gift cards are posted to your home.
Gifts
Some sites rather than sending you money or a voucher will offer you a choice of gift. With these sites normally you will get a list to look through and then you can pick out the item you want to order and it will be sent to you. Sometimes this item is sent from the site, and other times they will order it from an online shop and have it shipped direct to you.
Money Bookers
This isn’t a particularly popular method yet, but it’s become more available as time goes on. It works in a very similar way to paypal, the biggest difference being that when you set a Money bookers account up you have to link it to a bank account and verify it straight away.
