What is a PTC/PTR?

PTC means Paid To Click and PTR means Paid To Read.  These two types of site are often lumped together and rightly so, as generally they mean performing roughly the same tasks.

PTC
With a PTC site, you will be paid for clicking on a link and visiting a website.  These links may be sent to you by e-mail, or you may have to go to the website to find them.  Generally speaking with a PTC site you will be paid a penny or less per click, but there may well be anything from 10-100 of these available each day for you to do.

PTR
With a PTR site, you are paid to read the site that you are taken to when you click on the links.  The way they do this is normally by saying that you need to leave the site open for a specific length of time before you are paid.  Like with PTC sites you often earn a penny or less per site you ‘read’, but the longer you have to leave the site open for, the more you are generally paid.  Generally speaking though, you may have to leave the site open for anything from 10 seconds to a minute, so it’s not long.

PTC and PTR sites are one of the easiest type of site to use for making money on the internet, but sadly they are also one of the types of site that earn you the least amount of money.  On the up side, most of them pay out at pretty low payout levels, and many of them use paypal so that when you have you £1 or $3 or whatever the amount is you have to earn, you can transfer it to paypal easily.

It is important to be careful with this type of site however, as there are a lot of them about which don’t pay out, and it’s a horrid feeling to find you’ve put in lots of effort only to find that it’s been wasted as they never pay you.  One thing you can be sure of though is that every site of this sort that I list on here, I will check out thoroughly before I list it making sure that either I or someone I know personally has been paid by them.
